The Reliable Transportation Initiative

Helping our community
one bicycle at a time

The Reliable Transportation Initiative is a long-standing program that is at the core of the Cola Town Bike Collective’s mission, working to provide bicycles to folks in our community.

For many, a bike is a lifeline.

Working with partners who help us find the greatest need, bikes are given to individuals who lack reliable transportation to get back and forth from their jobs, grocery store, health services, or other vital needs. These bikes are donated by others in our community, which we then service, and provide them to a new owner at no cost.

In addition to offering the bicycles, the Cola Town Bike Collective will service and maintain these bikes to ensure that they are functional and safe for their users.

For every bike that we sell, we donate 4 back to the community.

For every paid repair, we make 5 free or low-cost repairs for those in need.

This program has helped countless people achieve a more stable living situation and has deeply embedded the Cola Town Bike Collective volunteers and staff as a vital resource for the Midlands community members that we serve.

Want to help?

Here are three ways you can contribute.

Purchase a bike from our existing inventory and donate it to Transitions Homeless Center at 2025 Main Street, just down the block from our shop.

Your monetary donations help us continue to serve our neighbors as a community bike shop. Donations help us keep the lights on, rent paid, and payroll current.

Volunteer your time and talents to help us rehab used bikes and provide service to our clients in need.
